Jewelry

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to jewelry.  On women it’s like putting an elegant picture frame on an already pretty picture.  I see kids today piercing their skin with all kinds of things.  I understand they feel the need to express themselves.  When I was young I had my form of rebellion, and I grew out of it, as I hope they do.

Many years ago, before I became a Christian I purchased a Sterling Silver Cross.  I was at the time searching for God.  Just recently my youngest son, a Christian, was heading off to Iraq.  I was visiting him at his home at Ft. Stewart Ga.  Before I left for home, I asked him if he would wear that Cross while he was over seas.  He proudly said he would be glad to.   I told him that I had worn that Cross for over thirty years and that I wanted  it back when he came home.   I also told him that there was no religious virtue in a piece of jewelry, but that every time I felt it it would remind me of what Christ did for me two thousand years ago.  I saw him on Christmas day, he took the Cross from around his neck and handed it to me.  I asked him if he liked it, and he said he did, so I told him it was his.  You’d thought I gave him a hundred dollar bill.

I often look at people in public places wearing crosses.  Sometimes they aren’t behaving in a Christian manner, and I wonder if the Cross they are wearing meant the something to them that it means to me.  On a few occasions I have actually asked the person, “Is that the Cross of Jesus for you or is that just a piece of  jewelry?”  Any time I see a Cross I think of Jesus and the ultimate sacrifice.  What is the Cross for you?  Posted by Steve Waltrip

Great one Steve!!!!!!!

I’m believe like you do Steve, what a sacrifice for me and you. WOW!!!!!!
When I see a cross and think of Jesus I see him in the center of the cross and then there is a right side or a left side of the cross. That’s where we come in, we have to make a choice on what side of the cross we will live our life, The right side or wrong side. Jesus died in the cross so we can make that choice. Praise God I made the right Choice

THANKS STEVE
