Journey & Battles

Each Christian MAN OF GOD is on a journey with Christ and with fellow Christians. Have you ever walked a rocky mountain trail? Each step is important. At times you may have guard rails, other times none at all. Footing may be treacherous. EACH STEP IS IMPORTANT! The same is true for our Christian journey. How would you describe your Christian journey? What encouragements could you give to others on this journey?

Warfare involves many battles — some skirmishes, others major battles. The MAN OF GOD is involved in Spiritual Warfare. Satan is the “roaring lion” seeking to consume us. Satan casts fiery darts. Ephesians 6:10-18 describes the spiritual armor we should wear to battle Satan. How would you describe your spiritual battles? What advice could you give to others?

I would like to share an analogy with you about deer hunting:

Millions of dollars are spent on deer hunting magazines and equipment designed to help hunters bag the ‘big one’. It is every hunter’s dream to bring home the big buck, the one that makes all the record books, 230 on the Boone and Crocket. I personally simply want to put meat in the freezer but you can believe me when I say, if a big one came by I would take it in a minute.

True deer hunter hunt year round. Studing deer habits, scout hunting grounds, read articles written by men that know what they are talking about. A young buck doesn’t have a chance with one of these seasoned veteran.

But there are a few bucks that learn hunters. Their eye sight isn’t really good. They lean more on the sense of smell and their acute hearing. The other day I was driving down a gravel road, and I say a buck on a ridge about 200 yards away. I decided to watch and learn, his ears perked up, he did that, act like you eating then look up move. Then he did something I had never seen, but heard of, he got down on all fores and crawled off. This was the first day of hunting season, on into the season you won’t even see most bucks they sometimes stop eating staying in a very small area.

The analogy is this: Satan knows your moves, your weakens’, he studies you, he knows what makes’ you mad. He knows you would rather watch ‘Wheel of Fortune’ rather than reading your Bible. He knows you’d rather drive 65 mph than 55 mph.(I’m medaling now) .

If we are going to survive hunting season we are going to have to first put on Gods armor and walk by faith not by sight. Use the Shield of Faith to stop the fiery darts of Satan.

The battle is not ours, it is the Lords, but we do fight skirmishes daily. Know how to defent your enemy.
